History
The University of the Sunshine Coast is young, fresh university driven by an unwavering belief that community and culture is just as important as a world-class education, delivered by world-class educators. Our first campus, on the Sunshine Coast, opened its doors in 1996. Today, our award-winning facilities span five campuses across South East Queensland, an area of unique geographical importance. We may not be the biggest university, but we’re growing fast, and doing big things. Like ground-breaking research, championing sustainability, producing gold-winning athletes and award-winning alumni.
Education
- At UniSC, our approach to learning and teaching is grounded in four key principles. We are learner-centred, placing the student experience at the heart of every course. We are standards-based, ensuring academic quality and alignment with national frameworks. Our curriculum is constructively aligned, linking learning outcomes, teaching activities and assessment. And we are career and future-focused, connecting knowledge to real-world application and professional capability.
- Together, these principles create meaningful, industry-aligned learning experiences that prepare our graduates for success in a rapidly changing world.
Research
- Across our campuses, the next generation of researchers are answering some of today’s most pressing issues, focused on ensuring healthier people and a healthier planet.
- We strive to build greater understanding of human behaviour, work and society, improving our collective quality of life by creating better outcomes for health and wellbeing and making positive mental health outcomes a priority.
- Understanding our world, and how we interact with it, allows us to create a better and more sustainable future. From forest to ocean floor, UniSC research is making new discoveries and providing solutions for environmental and ecological challenges worldwide.
