The goal of the M.A. Food Studies 15-month, U.S. accredited master’s degree program at The American University of Rome in Food Studies is to provide students with specialized knowledge and practical skills relating to the food system at all levels – from the local to the global – through a cross-disciplinary and international lens.

General requirements
- To apply for an M.A. program, students are required to submit documents detailing their undergraduate education together with a transcript of all completed courses. Students are also required to submit their Curriculum Vitae, an academic writing sample demonstrating research abilities, and a motivation statement (minimum 700 words) explaining their interest in their program of choice and their career goals, having carefully reviewed the courses that are offered.
- In addition, students are required to submit at least one academic letter of recommendation, preferably by an academic advisor or professor from the undergraduate level, and at least one professional letter of recommendation.
