Our flexible curriculum allows you to "build your own Master" based on your career goals. The programme consists of 120 ECTS (2 years), centered around two languages.Language Combinations:
- A Germanic language (English, German, Dutch) + a Romance language (French, Spanish, Italian – Italian can be combined with English only).
- Two Germanic languages (English, German, Dutch).
- Major Language: Minimum 45 credits (Advanced literature, linguistics, and culture).
- Minor Language: Minimum 15 credits (Strengthening proficiency and specialized topics).
- Professional Focus: Choose from options like research methods, second-language learning and teaching, comparative literature, digital humanities, or a third-language specialisation.
- The Master’s Thesis: A capstone project written in one of your target languages, allowing you to specialize in a topic of your choice.
- Global Mobility: While the programme is based in Louvain-la-Neuve, we strongly encourage a study visit abroad (ERASMUS) during the second year to finalize your immersion and/or the participate in multiple internationalisation initiatives.
- Hands-on Training: Active participation in language labs, individual research projects, and interactive seminars is mandatory.
