Overview
The Architecture from Leeds Beckett University offers highly experimental design approaches to architecture and urban design and has two pathways to choose from: MA Architecture Speculative Futures and MA Architecture Future Cities.
As part of this course, you’ll:
- Conduct practice-based and design-led research
- Re-imagine new modes of production in architecture, urban design and planning
- Combine insights from architecture, urban design, ecology, and emerging technologies to respond to complex global issues using innovative interdisciplinary methods
- Explore speculative and environmentally responsive design to enhance your future design practice
- Create innovative methodologies by using cutting-edge digital technologies
- Address current and future challenges through forward-thinking, sustainable, and visionary urban and architectural solutions

General requirements
Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, or other design discipline, or in a subject related to their chosen pathway as listed below, or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment, related to the subject pathway.
Related degrees for each of the pathways may include the following:
MA Architecture Speculative Futures - Game Design, or Creative Technology.
MA Architecture Future Cities - Town Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Three-Dimensional Design, Graphic Design, Game Design, Creative Technology, or Visual Arts.
