Overview
The Master of Arts in Education at Morehead State University, whether the Elementary, Middle Grades or Secondary program, will support and enhance your knowledge and skills to advance as an educational professional. Each program has multiple concentrations, such as Math, English, STEM, Gifted, and many more, to allow for depth of study based on your interests. Dual credit teaching qualification is available in Math, English and Biology. An alternative concentration is available if you want to design your own specialization.
MAE OBJECTIVES
MAE candidates will learn contextual factors, such as social, historical, philosophical and psychological factors, and apply those when making decisions that influence PreK-12 student learning.
MAE candidates will learn professional dispositions and professional standards appropriate to their discipline and apply those to the PreK-12 classroom setting.
MAE candidates will learn data literacy and research and apply those in the PreK-12 classroom environment.
MAE candidates will learn assessment literacy and research and apply those in the PreK-12 classroom environment.
By achieving these objectives, MAE candidates will serve the MSU Mission by educating students to serve our region and beyond.

- General admission to graduate study (for criteria, refer to "Admission to Graduate Study").
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on the baccalaureate degree awarding final transcript or a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on the master's degree awarding final transcript for those who have completed a previous master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education is required.
- A valid teaching certificate or statement of eligibility.
