Key Facts
The Two-Year Sociology and Social Anthropology (2 years) at Central European University (CEU) requires that students take a minimum of 30 US credits/60 ECTS need to be obtained in the first year (all through coursework). In the second year, 30 US credits/60 ECTS will be obtained (12 US credits/24 ECTS through coursework, 2 US credits/4 ECTS for the thesis writing workshop, and 16 US credits/32 ECTS for research and thesis writing).

General requirements
- Applicants must have a first degree (bachelor's or equivalent undergraduate degree) from a recognized university or institution of higher education or provide documentation indicating that they will earn such a first degree before enrollment in a CEU master's programme. Applicants applying for two-year master’s programmes must have collected a minimum of 180 ECTS credits* (or equivalent) during their undergraduate studies, while applicants for one-year master’s programmes, a minimum of 240 ECTS credits* (or equivalent).
