Overview
Occupational therapy is a regulated health profession concerned with promoting participation in meaningful and desired daily life occupations (e.g., caring for the self or home, engaging in leisure pursuits, working or studying).
Dalhousie University 's Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Entry-Level programme will prepare you for a career as an occupational therapist. Known for its theory-driven approach, commitment to social justice and diverse educational approaches, the programme is offered full-time, on-campus and is the only one in Canada with dedicated fieldwork education across four provinces.
Our enhanced learning labs are designed to give you the perfect combination of hands-on learning in the real world and academic education. You’ll work with researchers who are focused on ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate as fully as possible in the occupations of everyday life—in family and community life, in education and work, and in civil society.
As an occupational therapist, your skills are required in a variety of settings including:
- community and inpatient mental health centers
- adult and child day-care centers
- assistive technology programmes
- corrections facilities
- general and rehabilitation hospitals
- return-to-work programmes
