Overview
The Classics programme at the University at Buffalo provides students with an advanced academic framework to explore the literature, history, and languages of the ancient world. This Master of Arts degree balances rigorous linguistic training with independent research to prepare graduates for doctoral study or professional careers.
During the first year, students focus on strengthening their command of classical languages while surveying the essential methods and themes of the field. The second year allows for deeper individual specialisation, culminating in a significant Master’s project or a comprehensive examination tailored to the student's interests.
The curriculum requires the completion of 30 credit-hours and a modern language translation exam in French, German, Italian, or Modern Greek.
