Clemson University offers the Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Materials Science and Engineering. These programs include experimental and modeling aspects of advanced materials, such as amorphous, bio-, nanoscale, photonic and electronic materials.
Biological Sciences
The graduate programs at Clemson University in biological sciences, offered through the Department of Biological Sciences, include the MS and PhD degrees. The overall goals of the program are to develop scientists with strong interdisciplinary skills in research design, critical thinking and communication in biological sciences, as well as expertise in a specific research area.
Microbiology
The graduate program in Microbiology, offered through the Department of Biological Sciences, includes the MS and PhD degrees at Clemson University. The program offers specializations in cellular and physiological microbiology, microbial genetics and molecular microbiology, and environmental microbiology.
Wildlife and Fisheries Biology
Wildlife and Fisheries Biology research areas at Clemson University include wildlife ecology and management, forest ecology and management, conservation biology, landscape ecology, human dimensions of wildlife management, and environmental toxicology.
Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry offers programs leading to the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees at Clemson University with an emphasis in analytical, inorganic, organic or physical chemistry.
Physics
The Physics Universe is united around a set of fundamental laws and basic forces of nature. These laws govern phenomena from the smallest subatomic particles to the largest galaxies, thus the study of physics is the foundation upon which all science and technology is built at Clemson University.
Entomology
The mission of the Entomology Graduate Program at Clemson University is to support and encourage our graduate students and to provide them with state-of-the-art learning, research, and outreach experiences that will prepare them to become scientific pioneers and leaders in Entomology.
Computer Engineering
The Holcombe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers M.S. degrees in Computer Engineering. The M.S. Computer Engineering program at Clemson University includes an all-coursework option and a thesis option.
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Clemson University is to train students, advance the body of genetics knowledge through original research and scholarship, and disseminate that knowledge to our students and the scientific community.
Genetics
Genetics from Clemson University encompasses a variety of coursework in both plant and biomedical genetics.
Computer Science
The School of Computer Science has 36 graduate faculty members and approximately 150 graduate students, about one third of whom are enrolled in the Ph.D. program at Clemson University. About a third of our graduate students typically carry assistantships.
Photonic Science and Technology
The Center for Optical Materials Science and Engineering Technologies (COMSET), is an interdisciplinary unit of the College of Photonic Science and Technology at Clemson University.
Environmental Health Physics
The Environmental Health Physics at Clemson University is designed to address broad environmental issues associated with anthropogenic and natural radioactivity.
Mathematical Sciences
The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers the MS and PhD degrees at Clemson University. The MS program is designed to prepare students for immediate employment in the nonacademic sector and for further graduate study at the doctoral level. The emphasis on breadth of training, computational skills and preparation for immediate employment are unique features of our MS program.
Medical Biophysics
Medical Biophysics from Clemson University is aimed at baccalaureate degree holders (including those without physics degrees) who are already working in or are interested in pursuing a career at the border of biophysics and medicine via public and private entities such as pharmaceutical companies.
Plant and Environmental Sciences
The College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Life Sciences houses departments that participate in the graduate degree programs in Plant and Environmental Sciences (PES) at Clemson University. The PES faculty recognize their responsibility to the mission of a Land Grant Institution and provides exemplary academic and research mentoring and public service.
