In order to internationalise Swedish higher education and research, financial support for opening up and developing contacts with foreign partners must be made available to Swedish faculty. To be efficiant, such support shall be given with short notice.
The STINT Foundation Short Term Stipends provide opportunities for faculty at Swedish universities to spend a maximum of three months at a foreign academic institution. The programme covers all areas of research and higher education. Applications can be submitted by faculty at Swedish universities. Please note that doctoral candidates are not eligible to apply.
The programme also provides opportunities to invite foreign faculty as visiting researchers or academic teachers at Swedish universities. Foreign faculty at Swedish institutions is an effective way to widen international networks.
The time spent abroad (or engaging foreign faculty in Sweden) can be used for teaching as well as research or a combination of both. Please note that the STINT Foundation will not provide Short Term Stipends to sustain ongoing cooperation.
Stipends will be provided for a maximum of three months.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test. More information
For recipients who keep their salary from their home institution, the STINT Foundation will cover travel and subsistence (housing, per diem) or
For recipients who have no salary the stipend is calculated based on the cost of travel and housing and PPP-based daily fees (purchasing power parity). The EMBO Short-Term Fellowships subsistence rates are used. As an example, in 2009 the PPP-based daily fee is approx. GBP 61 for the UK and approx. euro 83 for Germany.
Costs for accompanying family members will not be covered by the STINT Foundation.
Decisions will be communicated within one month after every deadline. Applications can be submitted at any time during the year through the STINT Foundation electronic system. After registering, applicants will have access to the electronic forms (which are in Swedish). Applications can be submitted in Swedish or in English. Detailed information on the electronic application system can be found on the starting page in the system.
