Description

To maintain contacts, the following former DAAD scholarship holders can apply for a re-invitation: One-year scholarship holders, study scholarship holders, research grant holders with a scholarship/grant lasting more than six months as well as scholarship holders who studied in East Germany (DDR) for at least one year. The stay aims to enable the holder to carry out a research or work project at a public or state-recognised higher education institution or non-university research institution.

Eligibility

Applications for re-invitations are open to the above-specified former scholarship holders (alumni) who have been back in their home country for at least three years.

The most important selection criterion is a convincing and well-planned research or work project to be completed during the stay in Germany. The content and schedule must have been coordinated and agreed with an academic supervisor or research collaboration partner at the German host institution in question. Written confirmation of the planned cooperation project, including express reference to the applicant's project, must be included with the application.

The application must include proof of a workplace being provided at the host institute.
DAAD support for a research or work stay can only be awarded once in any three-year period.

Duration

Depending on the applicant's work schedule, the research stay can last between one and three months.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test. More information

Benefits

  • Depending on the applicant's academic status, the monthly award will amount to 1,840 euros for assistant lecturers, assistant professors and young lecturers, and 1,990 euros for professors, in exceptions, 2,240 euros.
  • In addition to these payments, the DAAD generally will pay an appropriate flat-rate travel allowance, unless these costs are covered by the home country or by another funding source.
