Description

These scholarships are intended for foreign students reading German, German Studies and European Studies who are in their second academic year and would like to spend the third academic year at a German university.

Eligibility

Since the scholarships are awarded on the basis of specialist academic qualification, applicants should be among the leading group of students in the following criteria:

  • specialist academic knowledge
  • previous academic performance and examination results
  • good to very good German language skills

Duration

The scholarship term generally lasts 10 months, namely for the academic year from 1 October to 31 July; These scholarships cannot be extended.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test. More information

Benefits

The DAAD pays a monthly scholarship rate of 650.- euros plus travel costs and a health insurance subsidy. A study and research grant and possibly a rent subsidy and family allowance may also be paid.

Information about the desired application papers are to be found on the application form ("Antrag auf ein Forschungs-/Studienstipendium") on the DAAD website at
www.daad.de/stipendien and are also to be received from the diplomatic and consular missions of the Federal Republic of Germany and the DAAD Office and partner organisations.

Incomplete applications cannot be considered.
