Description

In order to promote international cooperation and the circulation of knowledge, scholarships have been established for international students who wish to enrol for an accredited doctoral programme leading to a PhD degree in Estonian universities in the following fields:

  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Materials Technology
  • Environmental Technology
  • Biotechnology
  • Power Engineering
  • Health

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements
  • The candidate must reside in a country other than Estonia and must possess a degree that entitles him/her to be admitted to doctoral studies.
  • The candidate must not, during the preceding three years, have resided in Estonia for a period exceeding one year.
  • The candidate should not have a research experience of more than four years
  • The candidate must take up residence in Estonia for the period of studies and must complete the degree at the Estonian university to which the grant was released.
The grant application must be submitted by the host university on behalf of the candidate.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test. More information

Benefits

Funding arrangements
  • Funds for the tuition in the programme will be imbursed to the host university.
  • The student will receive a monthly grant (384 EUR) during the nominal length of studies.
  • The student will receive a travel grant for one return trip home in each year of study.
  • The student will receive an additional grant to cover the cost of his/her health insurance and the stamp duty payable on residence permit.
  • The student will receive a supplementary relocation allowance (rental costs, additional travel costs)
