Description

The AXA Research Fund was created in 2008 to encourage scientific research that would contribute to understanding and preventing environmental, life, and socio-economic risks. The Fund supports world class research in these areas by providing institutions with the means of attracting and retaining the leading scientists of today and of the next generation. The Fund seeks to support innovative and cutting-edge transdisciplinary projects, particularly as such projects may encounter difficulties in gaining support elsewhere.

Eligibility

  • The academic excellence of the candidate, assessed on the basis of his or her previous studies, and the excellence of his or her previous studies.
  • The innovative approach and originality of the Ph.D. project, as well as its feasibility access to resources, etc.), and the impact of its potential results.
  • The international orientation and reach of the host research laboratory.
  • The quality of the conditions offered to the Ph.D. applicant by the host laboratory.
  • The feasibility (access to resources, etc.) of the project, and the impact of its potential results.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Benefits

Maximum total is EUR 120.000 for the entire duration of the three years funding and covers:

  • Annual gross salary of EUR 25.000 per year
  • Covers any additional costs incurred in relation to the research project of maximum EUR 1000 per year.
  • Related fees paid to the host institution, used to cover all or some of the expenses related to the PhD research.

  • Every year AXA will award 2 "AXA Innovation Awards" each with a 250,000 Euro prize.
  • Only those institutions referenced by the AXA Research Fund may present applicants for funding. The AXA Fund does not accept any unsolicited applications from individual students.
