The university academics must belong to a university or equivalent instiution in one of the ILL's Associate or Scientific Member countries.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Application information
- The supervisor and student are asked to send their Curriculum Viaes, a cover letter for the student and a jointly agreed research proposal.
- The research proposal must present an opportunity for geniune collaboration between the ILL and a university or other research institute in one of the above mentioned fields.
- The proposal must provide technical information on the research to be performed: the state-of-the art of topic, any preliminary work already effected, the project objectives and experimental plan, and information on the access required to beam time and instruments.
