Description

The EIPA is an independent further education and research institute working in the fields of public administration and European politics. The institute supports the administration of the member countries and accession countries as well as the institutions of the EU with its services. The EIPA possesses a multinational and multidisciplinary staff and the biggest specialist library on EU topics in Europe. The institute provides relevant and high-quality services, which enhance the ability of the public officials to deal with European issues.

Eligibility

  • Need to have in-depth specialist knowledge of the EU, its workflows, its administration and decision-making for their dissertation.
  • Recipients of EIPA Doctoral Fellowships are obliged to work for a maximum of 20 hours per week at the Institute. The rest of the time is to be used for research for their dissertation; furthermore, participation in seminars and other events of the EIPA is expressly desired.
  • Knowledge of French and English is required.
  • Age limit: 35 (extention of maximum two years per child up to 40)

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Monthly allowance: EUR 920,-

Application information

  • A preselection is made on the basis of the application documents. Evaluation of: course of study, motivation and plausibility of the application.
  • Interviews by a committee in Vienna. Evaluation of: the project and its relevance for the future professional career and academic development, respectively, of the candidate, course of study, professional qualifications (e.g. publications), additional qualifications, general personal impression.

  • Fields of activity: European law
  • The selection process is competitive, only awarded to the best students of many qualified candidates.
  • It is legitimate to apply for several programmes - separate application forms have to be submitted for each application.
  • The presence of the chosen candidates on-site and the scientific pursuit of their projects / academic schedule are compulsory.
  • The chosen candidates are not allowed to engage in non-scientific gainful employment beside their studies.
  • Unless stated otherwise, the grants support one person only - they are not sufficient for accompanying family members.
  • The costs for medical care abroad in the EU are assumed by the respective national social security institutions. Bring along your European Health Insurance Card!
  • The applicant expressly agrees that in accordance with § 1 of the Austrian federal law on data protection BGBl.Nr. 165/1999, as amended, the personal data in the application can be passed on to the office in charge of the exchange programme, the partner institutions and other Austrian institutions granting financial support.
  • Upon application to the rector Austrian students will be exempted from paying the tuition fees if they pursue studies or internships in the framework of transnational, EU, national or university mobility programmes abroad.
