Description

It's to constitute a useful academic complement of the master programme pursued in Austria with a view to optimising the academic requirements for the applicant´s future professional career. Support of junior researchers.

Eligibility

  • The master, diploma or doctoral degree must be no older than 24 months at the closing date for applications (Exceptions are possible in the case of proven childcare periods and military or alternative service).
  • No age limit.
  • The planned master programme must not be in the same field of studies as the programme studied in Austria.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test. More information

Monthly grant 920.00 Euros
Monthly grant for Japan: 1,090 Euros
Study cost subsidy up to a maximum of 2/3 of the tuition fees or maximum of 10,900.00 Euros

  • Pre-selection based on the documents submitted. Evaluation of: course of study, motivation and plausibility of the application.
  • Interviews by a committee in Vienna. Evaluation of: the project and its relevance for the future professional and academic development of the candidate, course of study, professional qualifications (e.g. publications), additional qualifications, general personal impression.

Additional information

  • The grant can only be awarded once. Persons who have already been awarded a grant for postgraduate studies by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research cannot be taken into account.
  • Applicants are obliged to apply for a waiver or reduction of the tuition fees at the host university and to prove their endeavours together with their application or at the latest at the time when selection takes place.
  • Proof of completion of one´s studies and of admittance at an accredited target institution must be provided. Both proofs can be submitted up to one month before the start of the course.
  • Start of the study project: between 1/7/2010 and 30/4/2011. Changes in the start date of the programme are possible in case of proven change of the start date of the course; a change of the start date stated in the application is not possible.
  • It is legitimate to apply for several programmes - separate application forms have to be submitted for each application.
  • Candidates may not yet stay abroad in order to carry out their study project at the time of the award of the grant.

  • Lecturers placed by the Österreich-Kooperation can only apply for programmes in other places than those in which they worked as lecturers.

  • The chosen candidates are not allowed to engage in gainful employment beside their studies.

  • Courses that serve purely professional further education are not supported.

  • The costs for medical care abroad in the EU are assumed by the respective national social security institutions. Bring along your European Health Insurance Card!

  • The grants support one person only - they are not sufficient for accompanying family members.

  • Research periods in connection with a dissertation at an Austrian university are not supported (for these see the Marietta Blau Grant!)

  • Excluded from this programme are post-graduate projects for which special grant programmes exist (Europa College Bruges and Natolin, John Hopkins University at the Bologna Center, etc.) - for these projects separate application forms have to be submitted.
