The Orange Tulip Scholarship programme (OTS) was launched by the Netherlands Education Support Office (Neso) China in 2008. The success of the programme relies on the support from not only the Dutch academic sector, but also the Dutch business sector in China. The purpose of this initiative is to offer valuable study opportunities for Chinese young talents to study in the Netherlands through joint contributions from the Dutch higher education institutions and China-based Dutch companies.

In order to improve the competitive position of the Netherlands in the Chinese overseas education market, and promote the Netherlands as an ideal studying and working destination, Neso China intends to further expand the Orange Tulip Scholarship Programme in the coming years by involving more sponsors and increasing the number of study programmes. Dutch Higher Education institutions and companies are encouraged to provide contributions to this programme, as it will increase the opportunity to attract top Chinese students and future employees.
