I'm from... ...and I want to go to

In 1996 the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems was established. The foundation director is Prof. em. Dr.-Ing. Ernst Dieter Gilles. The institute in Magdeburg is the first institute of the Max Planck Society dedicated to the engineering sciences and is supposed to bridge the gap between basic research and industrial applications.

The neighbourhood to the Otto-von-Guericke University offers excellent cooperation possibilities with the Department for Process and System Engineering. At present 240 employees and in addition guest scientists are working at the institute in Magdeburg.

The main research activities are focussed on the analysis and synthesis, the design and control of processes in chemical and bio-engineering. Scientists of different disciplines like engineering, chemistry, biology, mathematics and computer sciences add their specific knowledge to the research work, thereby developing new methods and tools for tackling problems in other application areas.
Several research groups and junior research groups are working close together on different projects. They are grouped into project areas.
